Val Rossman and Janis Pozzi-Johnson share the West Branch Gallery “Curve Space” in this two-person exhibition of recent works by both artists.

Val Rossman’s works are inspired by “the fragmented quality of our lives.” The artist intends to “create order out of chaos, imagining our lives as “patchwork quilts;” orderly and comforting, yet full of life and color.”

Janis Pozzi-Johnson’s subtle and evocative process-driven paintings are created through painting countless thin layers of oil paint to yield shifting color fields and organic textures. The artist writes, “Through a language of undulating, nuanced surfaces and layer upon layer of color, my personal response to life’s mystery takes form. Abstract references to water, sky, earth and air rise to the surface as visual metaphors for the often ineffable experiences of the human heart.”
