with comments by amy rahn, curator

In the essay published by Kasini House that accompanies this exhibition, Curator Amy Rahn discusses Cheney's paintings as a creative process for both the artist and the viewer, "Galen Cheney's new works invite us to experience both the disorientation and creative release that accompany our own breakthrough. She gives us the kind of map her mystical journey gives her—a profusion of possible directions with no clear course, but a strong pull."

Cheney's characteristic architectural style, marked by bold blocks of color set against subtly layered backgrounds is taken in a bold new direction. LIne and form feature much more prominently, highlighting a new visual vocabulary that incorporates elements of her previous work while exploring new motifs.

West Branch Gallery has expanded into the CURVE SPACE, an exciting adjacent space designed by Stowe architect, Paul Robert Rousselle. We're very excited at what this new gallery area will enable us to do and invite you to enjoy it on your next visit.
