For over 100 years, the Grandview Farm barn has stood watch over its 150 year old farmland. Small Vermont hill farms, like this one, saw their demise with the inception of restrictive dairy regulations along with the modern farm tractor’s inability to maneuver on wet, steep hillsides. The history of the barn reflects the industrial history of the whole state, from sheep farming to timber harvesting, dairy farming, guest and skier lodging and finally - conservation. In 1996, the owner’s of the farm granted The Stowe Land Trust a conservation easement on the land, protecting it from future non-agricultural development. Status: Conserved by the Stowe Land Trust owners
