Charles Orme was born in 1980. He studied art at the University of Vermont and the Marschutz School, Aix-en-Provence (France). He currently lives and works in New York. His works have been exhibited in the United States (Vermont, New York City and New Jersey), France, and Montreal, Quebec.

The artist writes, "Cloud is one of the first sculptures in a series that uses industrial steel to suggest one of nature's most ephemeral forms. It is a suspended piece that dynamically twists and curls in a continuous loop of painted steel, changing from every perspective. Welded and formed through a variety of sensitive techniques, it presents a seamless flow of line and space. Ambient airflow will rotate the piece, accentuating the elegant shadows cast by the swirling strips of steel."
